Historical Rome
From UK & India: A 9 month Adventure in Rome, Italy on Nov 10 '10
When we went to Rome we saw many ancient things. We saw a fountain that had Neptune on it. A pigeon was perching on Neptune's head! On our way to the Pantheon we ate yummy gelato and saw artist on the street drawing and selling pictures. When we got to the Pantheon we were a little disappointed. We were expecting to see statues of Roman gods, but they had been replaced by Christian paintings and statues. The Pantheon had pretty designs on the walls, columns in front, and a huge dome shaped ceiling.
It started to rain, and we got drenched on our way to lunch. We stopped for PIzza. Rishi had a salmon pizza. It tasted pretty good.
We felt amazed at how big the colosseum was.
Then, we went to the Forum. It had lots of marble pillars, statues on the roof, and a brazier near the entrance. It was magnificent.
From there we waked to the colosseum. It was big and circular. The floor was gone revealing a labyrinth that was used for the things like storing the animals and providing a hidden path for the emperor to walk through. We felt amazed at how big the colosseum was. They had weapons on display around the colosseum. There was also a stray cat roaming around. We played with it and pet it. On our way out we took some pictures with people dressed like gladiators.
We were in a hurry to get back on the bus, so we ran back through the city of Rome. Rome was a very fantastic place, we wish we had more time.
