Last Day
From Stephanie Bearjar - St. Petersburg in St. Petersburg, Russia on May 14 '10
Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh! It’s my last day in Russia! I think I did well on my exams, but I find out for sure today in a few hours at our certificate thing. Yesterday we had the boat tour and while it began to rain just as we got on the boat, it stopped about 5 minutes later. The ride was an hour and a half and I fell in love with St. Petersburg all over again. Everyone is really friendly with each other now that we all know we’re leaving in a matter of days. After the boat tour we had dinner at this awesome restaurant with a folk show and everything! It was fantastic. Everyone had such a good time. It was out last экскурсия in Russia. We’re all getting that “uh-oh I’m going to miss it” feeling.
I was up again today at 6:30. This whole light streaming in the window at all hours is getting to be a bit much, although I have to say, it makes getting up and getting ready for the day much easier – far easier than at the beginning of the semester when it was always dark.
On the bright side, this whole week has pretty much been gorgeous outside, the kind of cool, sunny, breezy weather you dream about
I can’t wait to see my family and tell everyone about Russia. I’m just happy to say I survived it and thrived (more or less). This is such a different place to live. I wonder how I’m going to express it to people. I kind of wish people could just visit me and I could stay a little longer. If I saw someone from my family I think I’d be far less anxious to go home. I really do love it here for all of its shortfalls.
As soon as I get back, I have to start working on studying for the LSAT. Wow, life has just gone by so fast. Freshmen year I was trying to figure out how I was going to study in Russia and just a few months ago I was sitting in the airport nervous and excited to leave. Now, here I am returning already. I’m slightly worried about reverse culture shock. I didn’t have any culture shock problems here; however, going home I feel will just be so different. Just the idea that people will be speaking English is a little overwhelming. On the bright side, this whole week has pretty much been gorgeous outside, the kind of cool, sunny, breezy weather you dream about. Oh well, time to get ready for my last day in Russia…
