Arrived Honolulu as scheduled and as soon as that unmistakable warm tropical salt-water air mixed with Hawaiian flora hits your face who cares that your boyfriend was a big jerk earlier this am?? (little humor) Not me – Not Me who’s vacation and last day of work for 2009 has officially begun!!
So Jerome’s surprise Holiday present to me was a hotel night in Waikiki so we could get right to some CITY FUN and be walkable for drinks, dinner and beach star gazing… We found a delicious sushi place and pigged out so much I was nearly in tears. Who knew that when you ask for Unagi in Hawaii you get an ENTIRE EEL – not the skimpy bites we were used to – a WHOLE EEL. (I know I’m repeating myself) So we had to eat it… And then we got butterfish – OH MY HEAVENS!!
Then went to my all time favorite beach bar – open air, comfy lounge seats, lit by fire pits and live music!! So we drank and talked and listened to music and people watched. The Bowl Game is in two days and the entire team for whoever is playing from Texas is staying at before mentioned best beach bar / hotel so it was fun (funny) to see all the Texas mothers dripping in jewelry, drinking red wine with perfectly coiffed blonde hair talking football.
