An 18 hour overnight train journey transported us from cosmopolitan Amsterdam to the former communist city of Warsaw.  We were expecting a slightly dour city with lots of concrete tower blocks.  What a surprise we had!  Warsaw is a vibrant, stylish city with the most fantastic architecture.  It has the tree lined boulevards of Barcelona, the buildings of a fine Italian city like Sienna and the parks of Paris. Our accommodation, the Boutique B&B was centrally located, with comfortable and well decorated rooms and exceedingly helpful staff.

Our highlight was a picnic dinner in the main park, sat in the amphitheatre, overlooking the lake and the palace.  We watched the peacocks strut their stuff for the tourists whilst having a lesiurely bottle of wine.
