Frankfurt to London

Brisbird has visited no places in Frankfurt

A nice slow start for today as our airport shuttle was not due to leave the hotel until midday. A leisurly breakfast was had and final packing of our bags before checking out and our quick trip to the airport.

Check-in was uneventful giving us plenty of time to look in all the duty-free shops at the airport, then hang out for our flight at 3:30pm. The flight did not depart from a connected airbridge, so we had to board a bus at the departure gate then climb stairs from the tarmac where the plane was parked. The flight was delayed by about an hour - as a couple of passengers got stuck in the rotating door at the departure gate!!

Back where we can read the street signs and understand the language..

The flight back to London was only 1hr20min, where we boarded our London black cab for our ride to Lloyd and Sal's appartment. We had no idea where this was, so were at the mercy of the cab driver. Over an hour later (and $70 pounds), having passed by Harrods, Buckingham Palance, Big Ben, The London Eye, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London we finally arrive at the address. We had no trouble getting into the appartment as a key had been left with the building porter.

A quick look around the kitchen and it was obvious we were going to have to look elsewhere for something to eat for dinner. We tried four times to ring out for a Pizza, but it seems delivery to the area where we were staying was an unheard of thing. We broke out some biscuits we were bringing back from Hawaii to tide us over and awaited Sal's return from China - she was due about 10:30pm.

On her arrival, after hugs and kisses all around Joe and Sal went for a short walk to pick up a pizza. We sat back and enjoyed a couple of drinks, pizza and a catch-up chat until about 3:30am when we all decided to retire for the evening.
