AK Andy has visited 2 places in New York City

The MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) is expensive - $20 for adults.  It makes me regret throwing away my college student ID in a fit of honesty - the student discount would have been nice!  We got there pretty early but there was already a line stretching down the sidewalk in front of the building.  Luckily it moved fast and everything seemed very organized.  I really appreciated that they allow photography in this museum, even if no flash is allowed.  I did my best to take pictures of the Monet's since he is one of my favorite artists, but without the flash they turned out looking like, well, Monet's!  Overall I'd recommend this museum, especially (and obviously) to people who love modern art.  The museum has a really nice layout and there was a good variety of exhibits, enough to please even someone who is only quasi-interested in modern art (like me).

After getting sore feet from the slow museum-shuffle, we headed back to the wonderful Soho area for more shopping.  There is nothing like going to a Crate and Barrel, CB2, and other great stores we don't have in Alaska!  We spent the afternoon working our way through different neighborhoods.  All four of us especially liked walking through Greenwich Village, a lovely and quiet area.  We figured all the walking meant we deserved two dinners.  First we went to Red Bamboo, a great place for vegetarian food.  Much later in the evening we went to wd~50, a much more expensive restaurant, for some appetizers and the five-course dessert tasting menu.  Needless to say, we ate a lot of food that night!
