We were very excited for Vienna because we had no idea what to expect from the city. We arrived late and checked into our hostel called Wombat's. It was great because we were able to do our laundry, which was very necessary! Vienna turned out to be one of our favorite cities. We went to the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Naturhistorisches Museum. We loved the Naturhistorisches Museum (Natural History Museum), and spent a full day there. We also toured the Opera House and the Schönbrunn Palace Gardens. The gardens were incredible and really beautiful to see at sunset.

Sara was very excited to find a place called the Sachel Cafe. This place claims they were the inventors of the chocolate cake. Regardless of if it is true, the cake was incredible. Vienna had one of the best outdoor markets in Europe. It is called the Naschmarkt and we spent an afternoon wandering through the market's shops and food stands and eating what had to be the best Kebab in all of Europe. The kebab is a European fast food staple. It is generally a pita with pork or chicken that has been slow cooked on a giant verticle rod. We averaged roughly one kebab a day during our 2 months traveling around.

The hostel was great because it really catered to young people and provided a great area to meet new people. One night we made friends with a couple from Perth, Australia, and another Aussie from Tazmania. We decided to all go out and they just had to go to the one Aussie Pub that was listed on our map. It turns out the only thing "Aussie" about it was the boomerang on the wall. You can't serve Fosters (not even served in Australia) and just call yourself an authentic Down Under bar.
On our last morning in Vienna we were wandering around and we stumbled across this grandeous building. We found out that it was the Vienna City Hall...As the pictures will show it doesn't quite live up to architecture of San Luis Obispo's City Hall, where we both worked last summer.
How can we serve you better?
