Somalia is a coastal East African nation situated on the Horn of Africa peninsula, bordered at its east by the Indian Ocean.  Formerly known as the Somali Democratic Republic, Somalia has no recognized central government authority. Its capital, Mogadishu, is cited as an example of anarcho-capitalism and leads the region in access to telecommunications. Internet cafes can be found throughout the city.
