Winter Getaways in the United States

New Years, Birthday, Kiting by RoryUSA
Dreaming of heading to the ski slopes with your friends or family? Follow RealTravelers who are putting on their skis, snowboards, or flying a kite at some of the United States’ wonderful winter sport destinations.
Currently living and working near Breckenridge, Rory USA is sharing his adventures in snowboarding and kiting at some of Colorado’s great resorts. At Copper Mountain, he was even lucky enough to ski in powder, a fluffy forgiving type of snow that with lack of winter storms, skiers in California are missing right about now:
“We found an area where it was pure powder.. Almost up to my waist. Its the best boarding i’ve ever done and some of the trails in the powder were so quiet and untouched that it was like heliskiing.. Powder takes a whole different style of riding. You have to lean right back like you are in the water.” (more…)

Wondering where to go on the East Coast? Angie-Travel Addict headed to Bear Creek Resort in Pennsylvania to practice her snowboarding. She included great photos of the resort, as well as tips for beginners:
“A few things I learned about Snowboarding:
If its your first time : Take a Lesson! Seriously there is nothing wrong with this. Its not like its natural for a human to be shackled to a board and sent down a snowy icy hill! This is a skill that has to be learned and the best way is from a trained someone who knows how. Most places have a “learn to ride” package including rentals and lift tickets…..inquire at your mountain.” (more…)
