lioness

From The Safari by Voices of Africa

On safari in Kruger National Park, South Africa, RealTravel members Voices of Africa experienced a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, getting within feet of some of Africa’s most extraordinary and wonderful wildlife, including this beautiful lioness:

“I was the most excited to see and hear the lions. What a magnificent animal! You could feel the vibrations as the lion semi-roared. They came so close to the jeep that you could reach and touch them. As one lioness approached me, Nick said I held my breathe and did not blink for two minutes!” (more…)

koh samui

Koren & Erin in Koh Samui, Thailand

As seasoned travelers know, traveling in a new place is always exciting, but it can also be exhausting. Sticking to schedules, catching trains and buses, checking into hostels and hotels, getting lost - all of these flustering activities can take it out of you, so sometimes it’s wise to find a way to take a little vacation from your vacation.

Feeling a bit weary from touring around exciting destinations in Southeast Asia, like Bangkok and Singapore, RealTravelers Koren & Erin decided to brush off the travel dust and trade it in for beach sand on the beautiful island of Koh Samui. While Koh Samui offers plenty of cultural and adventure activities for tourists, it is also home to sprawling white sand beaches and warm sea waters. Koren & Erin took advantage of their time in this natural wonderland, resting up for their next adventure.

Here’s an excerpt from their journal, Surrounded by Speedos:

“The first thing was get into our bathing suits and go swimming. We stayed at Lamui beach which is beautiful. The water is crystal blue/green very warm, the sand is more grainy but we’re not complaining. Better than snow that’s back at home. We finally feel that after all that travelling we can relax and enjoy the trip. No schedules to worry about just working on our tans… We got Thai massages which were the best hours of our lives on the beach. They massage everything from your feet all the way up to your head. So relaxing and for only 200 baht. Definitely will be taking advantage of that a lot more often.” (more…)
